Collection: LED Controllers for Strip Lights

An LED strip controller sits between your power supply and your tape and decides what the strip can actually do — dim, shift color temperature, change color, or run effects one pixel at a time. This collection carries 13 Bluetooth controllers for DC 5V, 12V and 24V strip: five PWM models for 2-pin to 6-pin tape, five SPI models for addressable pixel strip, two hybrids and one all-in-one, all rated 6A per channel and 12A total.

What Is an LED Controller?

An LED controller is the device that turns a strip of LEDs into something you can actually operate. Power supply first, controller second, strip third: the supply provides regulated low-voltage DC, the controller switches and shapes that power, and the strip does what it is told. Skip the controller and the tape is simply on at full output whenever the power is on.

There are two families, and mixing them up is the most common buying mistake. A PWM LED strip controller varies power on each output channel, so the whole run changes together — that covers single color, tunable white, RGB, RGBW and RGBCCT tape. An SPI controller sends a data signal instead, addressing every pixel on the strip individually, which is what produces chases, gradients and music spectrums. Every model in this collection runs on Bluetooth LE 5.0 through the free BanlanX app, with no WiFi, hub or account needed, and accepts an optional 2.4G touch remote or wall panel.

Start Here: Match the Controller to Your Strip

The controller is chosen by the strip, not the other way round. Look at the cut end of your tape, count the solder pads, and check whether any chip is printed on it. That answers the question in about five seconds.

Your strip Pads on the cut end Controller
Single color — one white or one color 2 (V+, V-) SP631E single color dimmer
Tunable white / CCT — warm and cool rows 3 (V+, WW, CW) SP632E CCT controller
RGB color changing 4 (V+, R, G, B) SP633E RGB controller
RGBW — color plus a white row 5 (V+, R, G, B, W) SP634E RGBW controller
RGBCCT / 5-in-1 — color plus tunable white 6 (V+, R, G, B, WW, CW) SP635E RGBCCT controller
Addressable pixel strip — WS2812B, WS2811, SK6812, WS2805 and similar 3 (VCC, DAT, GND) plus an IC marking SPI models — see below

PWM or Addressable? The Difference That Trips People Up

A PWM strip is one continuous light. Whatever color or brightness you set applies to the entire run at once, and the controller simply varies the power on each channel. That covers most single color, tunable white and RGB and RGBW tape.

An addressable strip carries a driver IC for every LED or small group of LEDs, and the controller sends a data stream instead of raw power. That is what produces chases, gradients, meteors and music spectrums — the effects a PWM controller physically cannot create. If your tape is marked WS2812B, WS2811, WS2815, SK6812 or WS2805, it is addressable and needs an SPI model. Our SPI controllers drive single-wire ICs only; clock-based two-wire chips such as WS2801, APA102 and SK9822 are not supported.

  • SP630E — all 12 types, PWM and SPI, selected in the app

Bluetooth App Control — No WiFi, Hub or Account

All thirteen run on Bluetooth LE 5.0 and the free BanlanX app for iOS and Android. Turn on Bluetooth, open the app, and the controller appears — there is no router to join, no cloud sign-up and no gateway to buy. The trade-off is worth stating plainly: Bluetooth is local-only, so there is no remote access from outside the house and no Alexa or Google Home voice control. If that matters for your project, tell us before you order and we will point you at the right hardware.

Inside the app you get static color, dynamic effects, music-reactive modes and your own saved scenes, plus on/off timers, on/off animations, color-order calibration and OTA firmware updates. Music sync captures three ways: the phone microphone, streamed audio from a player, or the controller's own onboard microphone. Every model also binds up to five optional 2.4G touch remotes or 86-type wall panels, with unified or 4-zone control — useful when the strip needs to be usable by someone who does not want an app on their phone. The RB1-RB4 remotes and RC1-RC4 wall panels are sold separately.

How Much Load Can One Controller Take?

Every model is rated 6A per channel and 12A total, which is 288W at 24V or 144W at 12V. To check your run, multiply the strip's watts per meter by the length. A 14.4W/m 24V strip over 10 meters draws 144W, comfortably inside the limit. Long or high-output runs go past it, and the fix is a second power supply with a power repeater rather than a bigger controller.

Two more things worth checking before you buy: the controller must match the strip's voltage — a 24V strip on a 12V supply looks dim, and a 12V strip on 24V will be damaged — and the housing is IP20, so it needs a dry, ventilated spot even when the tape itself is outdoor rated.

Certified for the US and EU

These are radio products, so the paperwork matters. The SP63xE series holds FCC ID 2ATV8SP63XE (Part 15C, 2402-2480 MHz), carries CE under the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU — tested to EN 300 328, EN 301 489, EN 62368-1 and EN 62479 — and is RoHS compliant to 2011/65/EU with amendment (EU) 2015/863. The CE and RoHS attestations list all thirteen models by name. Ask us and we will send the certificates.

Common Questions

Can one controller run two LED strips?

Yes, if they are the same type and the combined load stays inside 6A per channel and 12A total. Wire them in parallel from the controller output rather than end to end, which avoids voltage drop down the second run. The SP63BE and SP63CE are the exception: they are built to run two different strip types, one addressable and one PWM, at the same time.

Do I still need a power supply?

Yes. A controller switches and dims power, it does not generate it. You need a regulated DC supply at your strip's voltage, sized for the run with about 20% headroom.

Will a normal RGB controller work on a WS2812B strip?

No. A PWM controller sends power on three channels; an addressable strip expects a data signal on one. Connecting the wrong type usually results in no light at all, and can damage the first ICs in the run. Use the SP638E for WS2812B-family tape.

What if my colors come out wrong?

That is almost always color order, not a fault. RGB, GRB and BGR strips all exist. Every model here has color-order calibration in the app, so you fix it in software rather than rewiring.
