What Are Single Color LED Strip Lights?
Single color LED strip lights produce one fixed light output across the entire strip length — no controller, no color-mixing circuit, no mode switching. Each strip is wired to a single constant-voltage driver and can be dimmed with a compatible PWM dimmer when brightness control is needed.

Because the strip outputs only one color, it connects directly to a two-wire constant-voltage driver and can be dimmed with a standard single-color PWM dimmer.

How to Choose a Single Color LED Strip
Color or CCT
Match the color temperature or hue to the space, merchandise or brand environment. Warm CCTs read as comfortable and relaxed; cool CCTs read as clean, bright and precise. For color-sensitive environments — food, beauty, artwork, apparel — prioritize high CRI alongside the correct CCT.
Brightness (Lumens per Meter, Not LED Count)
Compare luminous output in lumens per meter or per foot. LED count and chip model number alone do not determine brightness. Two strips with the same chip and density may differ significantly in lumen output and efficiency depending on driver current and bin selection. Review the listed lm/m figure alongside wattage and efficacy.
CRI (Color Rendering Index)
For retail merchandise, food display, beauty, artwork and hospitality spaces, choose strips rated CRI 90 or higher. CRI 80 is suitable for general utility lighting where color accuracy is not critical. Note that the headline CRI Ra figure averages eight low-saturation samples and includes no saturated red — where red rendition matters (meat, produce, wood tones, cosmetics, skin), ask for the R9 value or the TM-30 Rf/Rg figures as well.
Voltage: 12V or 24V
12V strips suit short runs, cabinet lighting, vehicle and marine applications and any system already wired for 12V DC. 24V strips draw roughly half the current at the same wattage: voltage drop scales with current (V = I × R) so the drop along the run is halved, while copper heating scales with the square of current (P = I²R) and falls to about a quarter. Widths range from 2.6mm ultra-narrow to 20mm wide. Confirm the PCB width fits the aluminum channel, sign groove or mounting surface before ordering. Slim profiles of 4–6mm fit micro-channels; standard 8–10mm strips are compatible with the widest range of extrusion profiles.
IP Rating
IP20 non-waterproof strips are suitable for dry indoor locations. Cut strips only at the marked cut points. The cut interval varies by model — single-LED cuttable strips cut between every LED; standard strips cut every 3, 6 or more LEDs as marked on the PCB.
Mount on a clean, flat surface. Aluminum LED channel profiles provide a finished appearance, physical protection and passive heat dissipation that extends operating life, particularly for high-density and high-output strips. Use the adhesive backing for temporary positioning; secure with clips or channel mounting for permanent installations.
Match the power supply output voltage to the strip voltage (12V or 24V). Do not mix voltages. Size the driver for the total connected wattage with at least 20% reserve capacity. For long runs, add additional feed points at regular intervals to maintain consistent brightness.
Dimmable single color LED strips require a PWM dimmer rated for the strip voltage and total wattage. Smaller packages allow higher LED density on a narrow PCB, which is why ultra-narrow and high-density strips often use SMD 2025 or SMD 1515 chips.
