The ZB-Box2 is a wired Zigbee 3.0 gateway — the hub a Zigbee LED controller needs before it can do anything from a phone. It runs up to 128 devices on one network, reaches 100m in open space, and connects to your router by Ethernet rather than WiFi, which is what keeps a large lighting network responsive.

Not compatible with: This is a Zigbee gateway. It does not control 2.4GHz RF devices such as the PR5, PR2, E2-RF or E3-RF — those need the WL-Box2 RF gateway instead. Controllers with built-in WiFi, such as the E3-WR, need no gateway at all.
Why Zigbee Instead of WiFi?
A WiFi controller is simpler for one or two devices — nothing else to buy. Zigbee wins once the house has more of them. Zigbee devices form a mesh: each mains-powered one relays for the others, so coverage improves as you add devices instead of degrading, and none of it crowds your router. The trade is this gateway. If you are installing one controller, the WiFi version is the cheaper route; if you are wiring a whole house, the hub pays for itself quickly.

Installation Notes
Power the gateway from a stable DC5V / 1A supply and connect it to your router by Ethernet. Place it reasonably centrally — Zigbee range depends on walls, interference and how many mains-powered devices are available to relay. Add sub-devices through the Tuya Smart app once the gateway is online.
