The 8mm IP68 underwater LED strip is a 24V submersible LED tape for swimming pools, fountains, spa benches and other permanently wet locations. It uses 2835 SMD LEDs at 120 LEDs/m on an 8 mm board in a 5 m reel, fully encapsulated to IP68 so it can sit below the waterline rather than merely surviving splash. CRI 90 color rendering, dimmable, CE certified, in 2700K warm white or 6500K cool white.
Why choose this IP68 underwater strip
- IP68, not IP65 or IP67: the only rating that means continuous submersion. IP65 handles spray and IP67 handles brief immersion — neither belongs in a pool.
- 24V DC: low-voltage supply feeding the wet zone, with a driver that stays dry and remote from the water.
- 120 LEDs/m on an 8 mm board: a slim encapsulated profile that tucks into a pool coping reveal, step nose or fountain channel without a bulky housing, supplied as a 5 m reel.
- CRI 90: keeps tile, stone and water color true instead of pushing everything green — the usual giveaway of cheap pool lighting.
- Two whites: 2700K for a warm resort look over stone and pebble finishes, 6500K for the bright blue-white read most people expect from a pool.
- Dimmable: full output for swimming, low output for evening ambience on the same run.

Installation and waterproofing
An IP68 strip is only as waterproof as its weakest joint. Seal every cut end, cable entry and connector with silicone end caps and a marine-grade sealant, then bench-test the finished run submerged in a bucket for several hours before it goes into the pool. If you can avoid cutting the reel at all, do — an uncut factory-sealed run has no field joints to fail.
Keep the 24V driver, dimmer and all splices dry and well clear of the water, and have the installation done and inspected by a licensed electrician. In the United States, permanently installed pool, spa and fountain lighting falls under NEC Article 680, which governs bonding, grounding and the clearances that apply around the water — local code takes precedence over any general guidance here.
